Philosophy

The Eastern philosophy of health involves treating the whole person and encouraging the body to be well rather than focusing on the treatment of disease.  We believe that comprehensive and holistic treatment is the key to leading a healthier, happier more fulfilling life. The foundations of our program stem from rehabilitation medicine which involves an interdisciplinary approach to care as well as the principles of functional medicine. Our program focuses on developing the tools to change your lifestyle in order to achieve optimal health.

Elements of Health

The six key elements of health that we feel are key to acheiving a healthier more fulfilling life are 1) diet and nutrition 2) exercise 3) stress management 4) sleep 5) social connnection and 6) your meaning and purpose. These modifiable factors in health are derived from the functional medicine approach to health. Addressing these domains on your journey to a leading a healthier life can help to give you a plan when life is challenging and it seems difficult to feel better.

Concept

The concept of our programs are based on developing small habits in the 6 key elements in health: diet and nutrition, exercise, stress management, sleep, social connection and meaning and purpose. Starting with small changes can lead to bigger ones over the course of time. Our program provides a framework  to acheive better health by addressing each of these domains combined with the science of habit formation.

Make a Habit

One of the most difficult things to do is to create a change in lifestyle. The majority of medical problems in industrialized countries such as obesity, heart disease, and cancers  stem from lifestyle factors. Changes are difficult to make and do not happen overnight.  Work from behavioral science and habit formation inspired by the book Atomic Habits by James Clear, is integral to our programs. Our aim to help you make small changes in your health to acheive better health outcomes.
